Rebecca Jones is a writer and journalist whose work probes the power structures shaping modern Australia—from the boardrooms of multinationals to the mechanics of compulsory superannuation. As Managing Editor for Bloomberg News in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, she leads a team covering markets, business, and policy with rigour and bite.
Her reporting has spanned three continents and two decades, tracing the fault lines of capitalism and politics. Rebecca’s writing has appeared in Bloomberg Businessweek, The Washington Post, and the BCC, and her longform investigations have been shortlisted for Walkley and Quill awards. In 2024, Bloomberg Australia was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
Rebecca was born in Melbourne and studied arts and economics. She holds a MA from Swinburne University and a PhD in Creative Writing from Monash University.
In the 2000s she was an editor for Australian Associated Press in Sydney before leaving to live in New York and work for Bloomberg.
She continued her commitment to telling Australian stories by establishing a mentoring program for journalism students, spearheading an investigation into the human face of climate change in the critically acclaimed, Bushfire Babies, and as host of The Bloomberg Australia Podcast.
Today she lives in Melbourne with her family.
